Thoughts about Easy A
I am very conflicted about this film. On one hand, I think it’s hilarious, with some awesome performances too. However, it also seems to carry the implication that if a woman has (consensual) sex with several people, then that is somehow an inherently evil thing, for which she ought to be censured by society. That’s not an idea I can get behind.
Did we watch the same movie? If anything it seems the movie is mocking the people that shit on women who have sex lives.
Well, yes, it did do that, but at the same time, it implied that they have a point. For example, when Olive goes to the different churches to try and figure everything out, she says “I thought it was okay because I haven’t actually been doing the things people have said I’ve been doing”, which implies that if she had been doing those things, all of the shit people had been talking about her would be justified.
